It is owned by the City of Cranbrook and operated by Elevate Airports Inc. Runway 16/34 is an 8,000 by 150 ft (2,438 by 46 m) asphalt runway with a category 1 instrument landing system capable of guiding aircraft down to 200 ft (61 m) in 1⁄2 mi (0.80 km) of visibility.
[4] The airport is operated 24 hours a day by the Cranbrook Flight Service Station.
CBSA officers at this airport can handle general aviation aircraft only, with no more than 15 passengers.
The aircraft crashed after thrust reversers did not fully stow following a rejected landing that was executed in order to avoid a snowplow.
