Carlsruhe, Victoria

[1] Charles Ebden became the first European to settle in Carlsruhe whan he established himself at Sugarloaf Creek, Victoria on about 14 March 1837.

He named the location after Karlsruhe, Germany, where he had received part of his education.

[2][3] Carlsruhe was the second inland settlement in the Port Phillip District.

The post office opened on 1 September 1854, closed after a few months and reopened in 1858.

In July 1958, the name of the Railway Station post office was changed to Carlsruhe.
