Carlston Township was organized in 1858, and named for Theodore L. Carls(t)on, a pioneer settler.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 332 people, 126 households, and 95 families residing in the township.
There were 131 housing units at an average density of 4.0 per square mile (1.5/km2).
20.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
None of the families and 1.2% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and none of those over 64.
