Carol Jane Greenhouse (born January 4, 1950) is an American anthropologist known for her scholarship on law, time, democracy, and neoliberalism.
[4] [5] Her books and articles have earned various honors, including the Law and Society Association's Harry Kalven Prize and the Association for the Study of Law, Culture, and Humanities' James Boyd White Award.
As an undergraduate, she conducted fieldwork among Indigenous Maya in Mexico as part of the Harvard Chiapas Project.
In 2001, Greenhouse moved to Princeton University, where she remained on the faculty of the Department of Anthropology until her retirement in 2019.
