Caroline Van Zile

Caroline S. Van Zile is an American lawyer serving as the third solicitor general of the District of Columbia since 2022.

[1] Her mother was a public school teacher and her father worked for the Washington, D.C., office of the corporation counsel.

[1][4] From 2012 to 2013, Van Zile served as a law clerk for then-judge Brett Kavanaugh on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

[1][4] She later worked on legal issues for cases in appellate and trial courts at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

[1] In 2018, Van Zile joined the District of Columbia Office of the Attorney General (OAG).
