[2] According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 15.0 square miles (39 km2), all of which is land.
It is located along the northern boundary of York County in south-central Pennsylvania and surrounds the borough of Dillsburg.
At the 2000 census, there were 4,715 people, 1,686 households, and 1,414 families living in the township.
The racial makeup of the township was 97.69% White, 0.40% African American, 0.06% Native American, 0.83% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.81% from two or more races.
[4] Of the 1,686 households, 39.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.7% were married couples living together, 5.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.1% were non-families.
