Carron, Falkirk

Carron (Scottish Gaelic: Carrann) is a village in the Falkirk council area of Scotland.

Carron is contiguous with village of Carronshore to the east.

The company introduced to Scotland the then novel method of smelting iron using coke instead of charcoal.

By 1814 they company was reputed to be the largest ironworks in Europe, employing 2,000 men.

It is now owned by Franke UK, based in Manchester, and manufactures kitchen sinks.
