Cerklje ob Krki (pronounced [ˈtseːɾkljɛ ɔp ˈkəɾki]; German: Zirkle[2][3]) is a settlement on the left bank of the Krka River in the Municipality of Brežice in eastern Slovenia.
In June 1943 the Partisan Cankar and Šercer brigades attacked the German air base near the settlement, destroying several aircraft.
[8] The parish church is dedicated to Saint Mark and belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Novo Mesto.
The parish cemetery is located west of the church, along the road to Kostanjevica na Krki.
