[1] Governor Paulo Egidio Martins issued decree 12.327 on 26 September 1978 to transfer an area of vacant land in Iguape to the State Secretariat of Agriculture.

[3] Birds typical of the freshwater marshes include wren-like rushbird (Phleocryptes melanops) and orange-breasted thornbird (Phacellodomus ferrugineigula).
