Chandrakala (dessert)

Chandrakala is a dessert from Tamil Nadu, similar to gujia.

The stuffing is traditionally made using dry fruits like raisins, coconut, almonds, and cashews, along with khoa, semolina(rava/sooji), cardamom(elaichi), sugar, and pistachio.

Chandrakala in Hindi means moonlight, so it’s moon shaped.

The outside is made of one dough circle that was folded over to form it's moon shape.

[3] Similarly there is a sweet called suryakala which is made of the same ingredients in the same fashion but seals two circles of dough together to make a sun shape as surya means sun.
