Charles Joseph Desmarais (born April 21, 1949) is an American art critic, museum director, and academic administrator.

[4] In 2011, he was appointed president of the San Francisco Art Institute, a position he left on November 1, 2015.
[5][6][7] Since 1985, he has been married to Kitty Morgan, former editor-in-chief of Sunset magazine, and later assistant managing editor at the San Francisco Chronicle.
