Chavar (Persian: چوار)[a] is a city in the Central District[b] of Chavar County, Ilam province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county[4] and the district.
[5] The city is populated by Arkavazi Kurds.
[6] At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 5,574 in 1,080 households, when it was in Chavar District[c] of Ilam County.
[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 5,831 people in 1,562 households.
