Chigasakikan

The Chigasakikan (茅ヶ崎館) is a traditional Japanese inn situated in Chigasaki, Kanagawa, Japan.

It prides itself on being one of the last seaside ryokan in the Shonan region that maintains the ambiance of a bygone era when such inns were abundant, thus playing a significant role in preserving the cultural heritage of the Shonan area.

Chigasakikan opened its doors in 1899 and stands as a rare remnant of the many traditional villas and vacation homes that were formerly in the Shonan bay area.

Film directors such as Yasujirō Ozu and Kaneto Shindo, were some of the many who regularly used the area as their holiday home.
