Chippewa Township, Mecosta County, Michigan

The northern part of the township drains to the Muskegon River, which flows southwest to Lake Michigan.

As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 1,239 people, 518 households, and 356 families residing in the township.

There were 1,139 housing units at an average density of 34.4 per square mile (13.3/km2).

There were 518 households, out of which 25.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.2% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.1% were non-families.

25.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
