Chiwogs of Bhutan

Chiwogs are also former third-level administrative divisions of Bhutan below gewogs.

The majority of chiwogs are small rural communities; more densely populated areas tend to be separate thromdes, or municipalities.

[1] Often, participants in the CDMP are also trained at a geo level for better coordination.

[5] Under the Election Act of 2008, chios are basic electoral constituencies within geos to elect one member of the Geo Tshokde (county committee) and Dzongkha Thromde (district council).

[6] The legal status of chios as electoral precincts is confirmed by the Local Government Act of 2009, which repeals the Local Government Act of 2007 and provides no administrative role for chios.
