Christina Salmivalli

Christina Salmivalli (born 18 September 1967)[1] is a Finnish professor of psychology and the deputy head of the INVEST research flagship at the University of Turku in Finland.

[2] Her research, on social and personality factors of school bullying,[3] won the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters doctoral dissertation award in 1999.

[6][7] In 2006, Salmivalli began leading a team of researchers tasked by Finland's Ministry of Education and Culture to develop and evaluate a bullying intervention program.

[10] A large-scale replication in the Netherlands, led by Gijs Huitsing and René Veenstra, found also evidence of the effectiveness of the KiVa program.

[4] In 2017, the Minister of Education and Culture, Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, presented Salmivalli with the Finnish Science Prize, worth €100,000.
