Subspecies include:[2] The species occurs in part of Europe (Britain, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Hungary) and in the Near East.

[1][4][5][6] This species especially occurs on dry meadows, forest margins and sun-exposed rock cliffs, at an elevation over 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) above sea level.

[1][6] These wasps are characterized by an intense green or blue coloration, included head, mesosoma and the first and second joints of the geniculate (elbowed) antennae.

[6] This species shows a long white pubescence, a wide pronotum, a dense punctation on metathorax, a red/bronze coloration on the ventral side of the legs.

The abdomen is minutely punctured, especially on the second gastral tergite,[5] with a carmine pink coloration and a coppery refulgence.
