The Church of Saint Gerhard the Bishop and Martyr (Serbo-Croatian: Crkva svetog Gerharda de Sangredo) is a Catholic church in Vršac in Vojvodina, Serbia.
[3] sometimes colloquially called a cathedral despite not being the main church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Zrenjanin.
German families were the first Catholics to settle in Vršac in 1717 after the end of Austro-Turkish War and reaorganization of the region from Temeşvar Eyalet into Banat of Temeswar.
In the absence of a church, a former mosque was used for religious services.
[1] A new Neo-Gothic church was built between 1860 and 1863 and was consecrated on December 27, 1863.
