It was launched on 12 December 2005 and until 1 January 2007 it had time-shared with TVE 50 Años betweem 9pm and 7am, which has since closed.

Clan is available free on digital terrestrial television (known as TDT in Spain) and on major subscription platforms.

[13] On January 30, 2025, it was announced that before the end of the year, the channel will start broadcasting its content in Basque, Catalan and Galician too.

[14] Revista Clan was published for the first time on March 25, 2010, a monthly magazine released at a national scale.
