Clare, New York

Clare is a town in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States.

Madam De Stael, a French author, at one time invested in the town lands, on the advice of her friend Gouverneur Morris, while it was still part of Pierrepont.

The Clare Town Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The town is in the Adirondack Park, and two branches of the Grasse River flow through it.

There were 6.7% of families and 12.8% of the population living below the poverty line, including 6.5% of under eighteens and none of those over 64.
