Proximity calculated a 28.56% increase in student population from 2000 to 2006; LISD was declared the 17th largest school district in the State of Texas in 2008.

In 2013 the district planned to change attendance boundaries of Flower Mound middle schools, causing some controversy in that city.

The program rolled out iPads to the vast majority of LISD Students, and implemented Google Apps specifically for the school district.

Flower Mound, Hebron, and Marcus each have separate 9th Grade campuses co-located with their respective high schools.
