Clear Lake is an unincorporated community and former incorporated village in Sangamon County, Illinois, United States.
[2] Clear Lake is located northeast of Springfield, southwest of Riverton, and immediately west of the Sangamon River.
Camp Butler National Cemetery is located just to the north of Clear Lake.
Civil War-era Camp Butler’s training and mustering grounds were on the banks of and close to Clear Lake.
[3] The first slate of officers were all members of a new political party known as the Clear Lake Independents, and ran unopposed.
