Confidence is a small unincorporated community in Wayne County, Iowa, United States.
The first coal mines in the area date from approximately the 1860s, although in the 19th century, they were small, serving only the local market.
[2] Frye's mines were in the Mystic coal seam, which was not much over 2 feet (0.61 m) thick in this area.
In its prime, the town boasted a millinery, a tavern, a shoe shop, and a bank.
Its area is part of the Wayne Community School District, [2] based in Corydon.
