The Copa Promesas MX is a Mexican football cup competition that was established in 2024.
[1] This tournament was established to improve the sporting development of the teams in the lower categories of Mexican football and the youth teams of the top category clubs, in response to the fans' complaint about the lack of development of youth football players in Mexico.
[2] However, this project was also criticized by fans because they considered it an incomplete version of the previous Copa MX and a substitute for the lack of promotion opportunities for the clubs that are playing in the lower categories.
[4] The 64 teams are divided into 16 groups of four clubs, all of them organized according to geographic location criteria.
[4] The tournament consists of five stages:[4] The cup will be played during the months of July and August as a preseason tournament for the teams of the Liga Premier and the TDP, in addition to giving play to the U-19 teams of the Liga MX because this competition will be stopped by the celebration of the Leagues Cup.
