Cork West (Dáil constituency)

Cork West was a parliamentary constituency represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas from 1923 to 1961.

The constituency elected 5 (and later 3) deputies (Teachtaí Dála, commonly known as TDs) to the Dáil, on the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV).

Following the death of the Labour Party TD Timothy J. Murphy, a by-election was held on 15 June 1949.

The seat was won by the Labour Party candidate William J. Murphy.

There is no record of Buckley's surplus having been distributed, even though it was greater than the difference between the votes of Murphy and Kelly.
