East Huntspill

The civil parish includes Cote, Hackness and Bason Bridge.

[1] Huntspill was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Honspil, meaning 'Huna's creek' possibly from the Old English personal name Huna and from the Celtic pwll.

[3] Three 18th century farmhouses in East Huntspill, Hackney, New Road and Phippins, have all been designated as Grade II listed buildings.

[8] For local government purposes, since 1 April 2023, the village comes under the unitary authority of Somerset Council.

It became the parish church in 1845, when the chapelry was formed into a parochial district,[8] and the bell-chamber was added in the late 19th century.
