Cuangar

Cuangar is a city and municipality of the Cuando-Cubango province in Angola.

The municipality consists of the central commune, equivalent to the city of Cuangar, and also includes the communes of Savate and Caila (or Bondo).

The name of the municipality derives from the name of a subgroup of the Ovambos, the Cuangares, who live in the area.

[2] On 31 October, the Germans under the command of Oswald Ostermann retaliated, and raided the Portuguese fort at Cuangar, destroying the fort and killing all stationed border guards with machine-guns.
