Cynortas

Cynortas was the son of King Amyclas of Sparta[1] and Queen Diomede, and thus brother to King Argalus,[2] Hyacinthus,[3] Laodamia[4] (or Leanira[5]), Hegesandre,[6] Harpalus,[7] Polyboea[8] and in other versions, of Daphne.

[9] He was the father of Oebalus[10] or of Perieres,[11] who either succeeded to the throne.

After the death of his brother Argalus, Cynortes inherited the kingdom and eventually became the king of Sparta.

[10] He is presumed to have participated in Pelops' attack on Oenomaus in 1312 BC.
