It is the only provincial electoral district in Quebec with a Jewish plurality.
[3] It was created for the 1966 election from parts of the former Montréal-Outremont and Westmount–Saint-Georges electoral districts.
The riding was named after Thomas D'Arcy McGee, a Father of Confederation.
