Bhuller choreographed his first work, Beyond the Law - based on Athol Fugard's Statements After An Arrest Under the Immorality Act - for LCDT soon after he joined the company.
Impressed by his choreographic talent, the company commissioned him in 1982 to create a piece in honour of Pope John Paul II for a performance at Cardiff.
[6] Critically lauded work created by Bhuller includes: Heart of Chaos,[7] Stand and Stare,[8] Planted Seeds,[9] Fall Like Rain,[10][11] Requiem,[12] Recall,[13] Eng-er-land,[14] Caravaggio: Exile and Death,[15] Prometheus Awakens,[16] Rites of War,[17] and Mapping.
In 1985, Bhuller directed the first of his many award-winning films - Breaking the Surface - in collaboration with the painter Graham Dean, which they sold to the UK's Channel 4.
[25] Other films[26] include The Fall[27] - which he co-produced through his company Singh Productions with BBC 2[28] - the documentary Harmonica Breakdown: speaking about the dance, What About Sky for MTV and ITV Chart Show, and Another Place[29] which focused on his mentor at LCDT, Robert Cohan.
