David F. Grose (November 21, 1944 – October 13, 2004) was an American archaeologist and Professor of Classics and Archaeology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
He attended Austin Public Schools were his sixth grade teacher, Janet Dickson, remembered that his favorite subject was ancient Egypt.
He attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota were his great uncle, Ingebrikt Grose, had been a professor of Language and Religion shortly after its founding.
He also successfully competed for a Fulbright Scholarship to study Hadrian's Wall in England after he graduated from St. Olaf College in 1966.
[2] [3] After completing his Fulbright fellowship, Grose attended Harvard University, as a graduate student in the Department of History.
Largely due to this accomplishment, Grose was selected for membership in the prestigious Society of Antiquaries of London in 1991.
