Jack Bailey (Georgia politician)

David Jackson (Jack) Bailey (March 11, 1812 – June 14, 1897) was an American politician, lawyer and soldier who served in the United States Congress and fought against the United States in the Confederate Army.

After studying law, Bailey was admitted to the bar in 1831 and became a practicing attorney.

Bailey was elected again to the Georgia Senate in 1855 and 1856 and served as president of that body.

During that conflict, Bailey joined the Confederate States Army as a colonel in the 30th Georgia Volunteer Infantry.
