David Gregory Jeaffreson, CBE, JP (Chinese: 謝法新, 23 November 1931 – 30 October 2008) was a British colonial government official and civil servant.

Jeaffreson was born on 23 November 1931 in the United Kingdom from a well-known surgical family descended from Framlingham, Suffolk, which is said to have performed the first successful ovariotomy in England.

[7] In 1955, he joined the Colonial Service and was sent to the British mandate of Tanganyika in East Africa in where he served as Administrative Officer until 1958.

[8] Jeaffreson was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the New Year Honours of 1981 for his public services.

[8][11] On 20 February 1988, Jeaffreson was appointed the Commissioner, Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) by the Governor, succeeding Geoffrey Barnes.

[2] On 2 January 2002, he was appointed as independent non-executive director of Buildmore International Limited, a listed landed property company in Hong Kong.

Both the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Donald Tsang and the incumbent Commissioner of ICAC Timothy Tong sent their condolences to the Jeaffreson family.

Jeaffreson lived in Pok Fu Lam, which is located in the Southern District on Hong Kong Island.
