David Shand (bishop)

David Hubert Warner Shand (6 April 1921 – 8 July 2011) was an Australian Anglican bishop.

His father was the Revd Canon Rupert Warner Shand, the rector of St Luke's Anglican Church, Toowoomba.

In 1966, Shand moved to the Diocese of Melbourne as the vicar of Christ Church, South Yarra, where he stayed until 1969.

Shand's other ministry positions included being chaplain to the CMF[clarification needed] from 1950 to 1957; organising secretary of the Home Mission Fund from 1960 to 1963; area dean of St Kilda from 1972 to 1973; chair of the General Board of Religious Education from 1974 to 1984; chair of the Department of Christian Education from 1978 to 1985; chair of the Christian Television Association from 1983 to 1985; and member of the cathedral chapter from 1985 to 1988.

At the time of his death, Bishop Shand was survived by his wife Jean, four children (Jennifer, Susan, Michael and Ruth), eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
