Veilleux was part of a ten men escape group, and dropped them with 17 kilometres (11 mi) to go, winning solo.

[11] On 11 September 2013, he announced his retirement from professional cycling, saying he wanted to continue his studies in mechanical engineering at Laval University and to start a family.
