However, 1,147 soldiers from Davie County fought in the American Civil War for the Confederate States of America.

22.20% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.70% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

The only Democrat to win the county since World War I has been Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1940, when he was aided by support for Britain's World War II effort by the county's population – which was predominantly of British ancestry.
