As an Australian Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, she represented the state electorates of Badgerys Creek (1995–1999) and Mulgoa (1999–2011).
In December 2018, Labor endorsed Beamer as their candidate for the Division of Lindsay at the 2019 Australian federal election.
