Dikshit (ISO: Dīkṣit, pronounced [d̪iːkhɪt̪]; also spelled as Dixit or Dikshitar) is traditionally a Hindu family name.
Dikshita in Sanskrit derives itself as a person involved in scientific studies, and literally translates as "one who has received initiation or one who is initiated".
