However, once he returned healthy, Ding was named the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) All-Star Game Most Valuable Player in 2017.

In 2017, Ding played with the Dallas Mavericks in the 2017 NBA Summer League in Orlando, Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada.
