The company was founded as dotCloud in 2008 by Kamel Founadi, Solomon Hykes, and Sebastien Pahl in Paris,[4] and incorporated in the United States in 2010.

In February 2011, the company secured $800,000 in seed capital from angel investors including Chris Sacca, Jerry Yang, and Ron Conway.
