The extent of this division is 10,700 hectares (107 square kilometers), and it is 6.7% of whole land area of the district.
Due to sufficient rainfall and sunlight available during the whole year without any strong winds, this division is most suitable for crop growing.
As the north area of this division remains as an overflowing flat zone, many paddy fields and garden crops can be seen there and many rubber plantations are in the high land of eastern part of the division.
Thudugala Ella waterfall, an important place required to be developed as an environmental and tourism zone is situated in the eastern part of the division.
Dodangoda is one of interchanges (entry points) to the Southern Expressway (Sri Lanka) that runs through this Divisional Secretariat.
