Dombivli (pronunciation: [ɖoːmbiʋliː]) is a suburban city located on the banks of Ulhas River in Thane district of Maharashtra, India.
Dombivli along with Kalyan has one of the highest literacy rate of 93% in the state of Maharashtra.
It is today, the hub of many industries, however, which also impacts the city, somehow in residential matters.
Built in 1886, it is one of the busiest stations on the Central line and witnesses a footfall of more than 300 thousand commuters daily.
Aside from the provision of local trains by the Central Railway, a recently built bridge links Dombivli West and Thane together by road.
