Written and illustrated by Shio Usui, Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon was serialized in Ichijinsha's Comic Yuri Hime from March 18, 2019, to May 18, 2022.

Anime News Network gave the first and second volume of Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon an overall A− rating,[8][9] praising that series for tackling how adult deal with self identity.

Silverman noted in her review of volume 2 that Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon was among another current yuri title, Whisper Me a Love Song, that appeared to have a protagonist that exhibited signs of being on the asexual or demisexual spectrum.

While praising this from the point of view of representation, they did worry about the "conflation of homosexuality and asexuality in manga about queer characters" but were open to seeing how the series progressed with such themes.
