It is largely cognate with Bantawa language, but differs grammatically and phonologically.
Dungmali is spoken in eastern Bhojpur District, Koshi Province, in Thulo Dumba, Sano Dumba, and Bastim Similarly, Tiwari Bhanjyan, Chyangre, Yaku etc.
