The bridge connects a residential area of Plymouth to River Park Square and downtown.
[1] In early 2023, a rehabilitation project was completed with the aim of extending the lifespan of the bridge structure to 30 years and reducing lateral deflections.
The project also involved the removal of pack rust from exposed steel components, along with cleaning and painting.
Pedestrian access was improved by updating the bridge approaches and installing new lighting along the railing and truss members for safety.
