East Spencer is a town in Rowan County, North Carolina, United States.
Originally called "Southern City" because of significance of the railway to the area, it was incorporated in 1901 as East Spencer.
[5] According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.6 square miles (4.1 km2), all land.
The town of East Spencer is governed by a mayor and six board of alderman members.
[6] A post office was first established in East Spencer on February 12, 1919, with William J. Hatley as postmaster.
