The firm was co-owned by Universal Molasses Corporation (UNIMOLCO), and a consortium led by three businessmen (collectively known themselves as the "BAN Group") who were cronies of the Marcoses: Jose L. Africa, Manuel H. Nieto Jr., and Roberto Benedicto.
