Eddie King (coach)

Carl Edward King (July 9, 1912 – August 12, 1963) was an American football and basketball coach, college athletics administrator, and educator.

He served as the head football coach, head basketball coach, and athletic director at Morris Harvey College—now known as the University of Charleston—in Charleston, West Virginia from 1946 to 1957.

[1][2] King came to Morris Harvey in 1946 as an assistant football coach under Alderson Propps.

When Propps resigned in October of that year, King succeeded him as head football coach, first in an acting capacity and later on a permanent basis.

[3][4] King died on August 12, 1963, at a hospital in Charleston, West Virginia, following an illness lasting six weeks.
