Edhem Eldem

Edhem Eldem (born 1960, Geneva), Turkish historian, author and academic.

[1] After completing his master's degree in political science and public administration at the Boğaziçi University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences between 1982 and 1983, he went to France with a scholarship from the French government and wrote his thesis "French Trade in Istanbul in the Eighteenth Century" under the advisory of Robert Mantran at the University of Provence.

[2][3] Trustee rector Naci İnci’s management's mobbing pushed him to retire from Boğaziçi University.

[2] In 2007 he was chosen for the Rostrum of International Turkish and Ottoman History of Collège de France and he did researches and gave conferences for five years.

And also; He is an advisory board member of non-governmental organizations such as Studia Islamica, Bilim Akademisi (2018–present), Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society, Kingdom of Morocco Academy of Sciences (2023), Turcica (2015–present) and Turkic Studies Association.

[5][6] In October 2022 due to his works and dedication to research, education and dialogue, he was appointed the Chèvalier of Legion of Honour.
