[5] In 1923 he joined the board of directors of Sandoz; in 1941 he took over the position of CEO of the company in France.
After his father's death in 1928, Edouard Marcel inherited his country estate Le Denantou in Lausanne, which he transformed into a workshop.
During the First World War, he turned to ceramics and designed models for the porcelain manufacturers Haviland & Co. (Limoges), Sèvres, and Langenthal.
In 1933 he founded the Société française des animaliers (French Society of Animal Sculptors).
He showed his works in the pavilion of the Société des artistes décorateurs at the World Exhibition Paris 1937.
